Overview

December 15th 2025 marked 10 years since the founding of Open AI. Seven days earlier, on Monday December 8th we were briefed to make a video celebrating that milestone.

In true sprint fashion we poured over archive footage and photos, and blog posts and twitter posts and white pages to rapidly construct and edit together an honest narrative.
The result was a humble and candid snapshot of what the first 10 years at this unconventional company looked like before it became one of the most famous companies in the world.

The insane deadline on this film could have been paralyzing, but actually moving as fast as we did worked to our benefit. There was not enough time for multiple stakeholders to nit pick, or add fluff to the concept. We moved rapidly towards approval from Sam Altman, and in a blink it was out into the world— much the same way I'm sure it feels for the researchers and developers building the actual products at OpenAI.

Results

On December 15th this video appeared at the top of the landing page of OpenAI and stayed there for 2 days, getting millions of (untracked) views.
